How the first transport, alternate with public transport appeared:

• 1909: The taxi makes it possible to move more quickly and with more comfort.

At that time the Parisian taxis will fall of 10.000 taxis with 3000 vehicles. After the First World War the world of the taxi will be structured and the first meters will appear outside the cars as from 1903.

• 1921: The first trade unions of taxis are created. The banks invest by the means of the companies such as G7 and others, by buying vehicles to be taxi drivers of them. What makes it possible to the manufacturers to make considerable benefit.

• 1931: In the absence of public transport, 25.000 taxis exert transfers and create lines of shared taxis.

• 1956: It is the beginning of the radio power station of the taxis.

• 1960: It is the appearance of the first diesel engines made in series. The taxis will start to be equipped some. They remain in Paris this year there ten taxis coachmen.

• 1962: Free licences of taxis are distributed for the repatriates. The taxi will represent for them a social springboard. The taxi is sometimes their only fastener in France.

• 1965: The last taxis coachmen disappear.

• 1968: After several days of demonstrations, the taxis are received with the town hall of Paris on June 12 and several improvements are then made on the tariffs of the taxis and the tax reduction of the fuels.

• 1970: Beginning of the year 70 is marked by a healthy economy, unemployment is quasi absent. The world of the taxi changes. The customers taxi in are representative: business men, employees, secretaries etc… the taxi of night earns its living better that are colleague of the day.

• 1973: The drivers obtain the right to sell their licences. The customers internationalize themselves.

• 1974: The airport of Roissy Charles de Gaulle opens her doors and thus with the Parisian taxis.

• 1980: The development of the districts as Defense brings new customers. Defense is consisted the districts of three different communes: Nanterre, Puteaux, Courbevoie. The number of taxis in Paris east of 14000.

• 1995: This year is remembered by the promulgation of a law which redefines the profession. Name taxi applies exclusively to the vehicles equipped with the luminous signs “taxi” of a meter horokilometric and a plate of parking.

• 2000: France counts 44000 taxis on all the territory. In Paris the Parisian taxis are 15000 taxis.
